Mother's Day Dinner Take Mom out to dinner at Back River United Methodist Church, 544 Back River Neck Road, on Saturday, May 10, 3 - 6 p.m. We are serving all-you-can-eat salad, baked chicken, ham, hot vegetables, rolls, tea, coffee and dessert. Adults $10, children ages 6 to 12, $5, children under 6 are free. We will have a nearly new table featuring flowers and crafts. During the dinner George Wilbanks, Publisher of the East County Times, will conduct a book signing of his autobiography titled “Memoirs of a Dreamer: From the Cotton Fields of North Georgia to the Shores of the Chesapeake Bay.” This 200-page book sells for $15 and benefits the Back River United Methodist Church’s Building Fund. Silent Auction
Open to the public Friday, May 9, 5 - 8:30 p.m. at Essex Moose Family Center, 106 Riverside Drive. Proceeds to benefit the American Cancer Society, Relay for Life. Some of the items available to bid on are a wedding gown (size 11/12) valued at $1,000, Longaberger basket valued at $35, Harley-Davidson picnic set valued at $75, clocks valued at $50, plus various gift certificates from vendors and many, many more items. Flea Market Annual event held by the HARBEL Community Organization on Saturday, May 10, 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. at 5807 Harford Road (front lawn). A 10’x10’ space is available for $20. Flowers for Mother’s Day, baked goods and fleas available. This is the organization’s biggest fundraiser of the year. If you cannot attend, you can donate your “good” fleas to the HARBEL flea table, or you can generously donate a homemade cake to our bake sale table.
