Shotokan Karate Program
The rec. council is currently looking for participants for its shotokan karate program. The program takes place on Tuesday and Thursdays from 6 - 8:30 p.m. and is open for children eight and up. NEW! Back River Soccer Camp
A British Soccer Camp will be held at Back River Community Center from July 7 – July 11. The camp will be open to children ages 3 to 16. The three and four-years-old camp is from 9 - 10 a.m. and the cost is $60. The five and six-year-old camp is from 10 a.m. to noon and the cost is $85. NEW! Youth Soccer
Registration for fall soccer will take place at the rec. office on Saturdays, May 10 & 31 from 11 a. m. - 1 p.m. and on Monday, May 12 from 6:30 - 7: 30 p.m. The league is open for U6 - U18 and the cost is $55 until June 1 and then the price will be $ 60. Paid Field Leaders
The rec. council is looking to hire paid field leaders to work during the upcoming Baseball and Softball season. Duties include raking and preparing the fields prior to games, unlocking bathroom facilities and clean up afterwards.  Service will be needed every day from 4 p.m. til dusk and weekends.  Age requirement is 15 and up.  For more information, please call the recreation office at 410-887-5939.
Aerobics Instructor
The rec. council is in need of a credited aerobics instructor.  If you are certified and like to work with adults two hours per week at one of our local school sites, please call the recreation office at 410-887-5939.
Summer Arts 'n' Crafts
The Rec. Council will be holding its Summer Arts 'n' Crafts program in the community center located at 11601 Eastern Avenue, beginning on Thursday, June 26 through Aug. 7. Classes will meet every Thursday evenings at 7 p.m. for one hour and the cost is only $15 for entire sessrion. This program is open to all children in grades K - 5th grade. Parent helpers are invited and appreciated.  Miss Darlene Heinle and Mrs. Sandy Martinez are the instructors.  Registration will be held on the first night, but you may sign up any Thursday during the session.  For more information, please call the rec. office.
Summer Playground
The rec. council is happy to announce the start of its Summer Playground for all kids in grades K thru 5th grade.  Registration will be held on June 13 and June 16 in the Oliver Beach Elementary School recreation room, (12912 Cunninghill Cove Road) from noon until 1 p.m. on both days.  The summer playground will open from 9:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. on Mondays - Fridays beginning on June 23 and will run until Aug. 1. Donations for the entire session is $45 per child. Please note that this is a drop in center and children may come and go as pleased. No lunches nor transportation will be provided. Golden Age Club
The Golden Age Club is open to anyone ages 50 and up for bingo, fellowship, and fun! The group meets every Tuesday at Berkshire Elementary School, 7431 Poplar Ave., in the recreation activity room from 9:30 a.m. to noon. Stop in anytime to see if you would like to join!
NEW! Berkshire H/C Theatre  
The Berkshire Leisure Players will perform “A Movie Musical” on stage at the Eastern Regional Performing Arts Center, located in the North Point Government Center. Curtain time is 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 21. Admission is free and open to the public.
    This special group of individuals has been working extremely hard to learn their lines and perfect their acting skills!  Please support their efforts by attending this play to show their achievements are appreciated.

Adult Softball
Dundalk Adult USSSA Softball now expecting teams, Dundalk Softball teams will play on Sunday, Monday and Wednesday for men. Tuesday nights are for women teams. Maryland Boating Safety Course
Be safe on the water this summer…the Maryland State Boating Course is being offered by the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary - Flotilla 13-07 and sponsored by the Essex Recreation and Parks Council.  The classes will be held in the Activity Room at the Essex Elem. School, 100 Mace Ave. in Essex on May 20, 21, & 23, 2008 or June 24, 25, & 27, 2008 (students must attend all three nights in the session they choose).  
Registration is $20; an adult must accompany anyone under the age of 16.
Remember, Maryland law states that anyone born on or after July 2, 1972 must have a certificate of boating safety education while operating any motorized vehicle.

Spring Adult Softball
Two adult co-ed softball leagues will be held this spring;
Wednesday - Co-ed league, 5 men/5 women to a team - registration is $414 and league is 10 weeks.
Friday - Mixed league 7 men/ 3 women to a team - registration is $415 and league is 11 weeks.

Pavilion Rentals
The rec. council is now taking reservations for pavilion rentals at Wilson Point Park. The pavilions will be reserved on weekends from April 26 - Oct. 26. Aerobic Action
Aerobics and step aerobics classes will be held at the Fullerton Elementary School gym from 7 - 8 p.m. on Mondays & Wednesdays, until April 7 to June 16 and Tuesday & Thursdays April 8 until June 16. Yoga
Yoga is a lifestyle. The emphasis is on improvement of physical and mental well-being. Football
The rec. council will be holding football registration for children 5 -14 on Fridays, May 30 & June 13 from 6 - 8 p.m. and on Saturdays,  May 31 & June 14 from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. at the Fullerton Community Center. Cheerleading
Cheerleading registration will be held on Friday, May 30 & June 13 from 6:30 - 8 p.m. and Saturdays, May 31 and June 14 from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. The program is open to boys and girls program ages 5 - 14 and cost $85 for the first child and $65 for each additional sibling. Tots Summer Fun Days

Registration will be held for Tiny Tot's Summer Fun Days for tots ages three to five (children entering kindergarten are eligible.) Children must be three on or before 6/1/08 and must be potty trained. Summer Tots will meet from 9 a.m. - noon at Seven Oaks Elementary School Recreation Center. Two different two-week sessions are June 25 & July 1. Registration takes place on Wednesday, April 30 from 6 - 8 p.m. at Perry Hall Elementary School. For more information, call the rec. office.
All-Men's Flag Football
The rec. council is sponsoring an 18 and over All-Men's Flag Football League The cost is $650 per team/$60 extra for every player over 12. A $200 deposit due at the time of registration. Stembridge Colts Tumbling and Conditioning Clinic
Get ready for the upcoming Cheerleading season.  Stembridge Colts has put together a clinic including conditioning, strength and tumbling for children 6 - 14 years of age.  Cost is $60 for this 10-week program that will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  The program will be held at Mars Estates Elem SRC began on May 5 at 6 p.m.  For questions please contact Coach Dana at 410-627-5037 or the Stembridge Recreation Office.
Stembridge Colts Football and Cheerleading
Football is open to children 5 - 13 years old (or age 14, born before Aug. 1 and weighing 140 lbs. or less) and cheerleading is open to children 5 - 14 years old. Registration will be held at the Stembridge Community Center, 101 Stemmers Run Road, on  Saturdays, May 3 and 31 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and on Thursdays before the monthly meeting at the Middlesex Activity Building, 142 Bennett Rd., June 12 and July 10, 2008 from 6 - 7 p.m. Cost is $120 (register before July 1 and receive a $20 discount).

Stembridge Men's Basketball Summer League season starts June 8 on Thursdays and Sundays. Registration is from April 27 to May 15. All games are played at the Stembridge Community Center in Essex. The cost is $575 per team or $75 per individual. Registration fee includes reversible mesh jerseys, officiated games, championship tournament, and trophies. Pitch, Hit & Run Competition
The rec. council will host the Aquafina Major League Baseball Pitch, Hit & Run Competition,formerly known as Pepsi MLB PHR, on May 10 at 10 a.m. at the Watersedge Ball Fields on Bullneck Road in Dundalk. Check in will begin at 9 a.m.
 PHR is a skills competition that provides boys and girls, ages 7 to 14, the opportunity to showcase their pitching, hitting and running abilities. Winners can advance through four levels of competition, including Team Championship events at the 30 Major League ballparks and the National Finals at the MLB All-Star Game.
Boys and girls will compete together in four age groups: 7/8, 9/10, 11/12, 13/14. Age is determined as of July 17, 2008. Please provide a copy of participant's birth certificate with completed and signed registration and waiver form.
