Basic Boating Courses The rec. council will hold five separate Maryland Basic Boating Courses at the rec. center on Monday and Thursdays from 6 - 10 p.m. during these dates: July 27 & 30 Aug. 24 & 27 The cost is $20 per person. Anyone under 16 years old must be accompanied by an adult. A Department of Natural Resources Boating Safety Certification will be issued upon successful completion. The certification is required for all persons born on or after July 1, 1972 who will be operating a pleasure vessel on Maryland waters. It is also recommended that all first-time boaters, regardless of age, take this course to help ensure boating practices on Maryland waters. For more information, call the rec. office. Summer Playground The rec. council will have Summer Playground at Sandalwood Elementary School, 900 S. Marlyn Avenue starting June 29 - July 31 from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. The cost is $15 and the program is open for children 5 - 12 years old. Free lunch provided by Summer Food Service. Summer Playground
Summer Playground has begun once again in the Oliver Beach ES Rec. Center will run through July 24. The cost this year is $50 per child. Session runs from 9:30 a.m. - 2:30 pm Monday - Friday for kids in grades K - 5. You may register on Monday, June 22 at 9:30 a. m. or anytime during the program. This is a drop in and no lunches / transportation are provided. Please call the rec. office for more information. Fall Soccer The following dates are open to all boys and girls interested in our Fall Soccer program from ages 4 thru 14: July 11 and July 25 from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. at the Bengies Chase Community Building and on July 14 and July 28 from 5 - 7:30 p.m. at the Carroll Island McDonald's. Outdoor Soccer Registration
The Colgate Rec. Council will hold Outdoor Soccer Registration on July 20 & 31 from 6 - 8p.m. at the Colgate Elementary Recreation Office. Cost of registration is $50 per participant. Age groups available are, Coed: U6, U8, U10, U12, U14, U16 & U18; Girls*: U8, U10, U12, U14, U16 & U18. (*Please note there will only be girls’ teams if there are enough teams in the SE area to form a league.) A copy of the child’s birth certificate or valid age verification is required at registration. A parent/guardian must be present to sign forms. Basketball Camp
Berkshire-Eastwood Recreation Council will hold a Youth Instructional Basketball camp on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays until July 17 at Eastwood Elementary School. (Program will not meet on Friday, July 3rd) Age groups and times are 6 -8 year olds (6 - 7 p.m.), 9 - 10 year olds (7 - 8 p.m.) and 11-12 year olds (8 - 9 p.m.). Program cost is $20 per participant. Registration will be held in the Eastwood Elementary Front Lobby on Friday, June 19, both from 6 - 8 p.m. A copy of the participant's birth certificate or official verification of age is required. ESP Lady Warriors Field Hockey Registration will be held every Monday in June & July from 6 - 8 p.m., at the ESP Rec Office. Happy Squares winter workshops will be held the second and fourth Mondays of each month from 7:30 - 9:30 p.m. Dances will take place in 2009 on the first Friday of the month. Outdoor Soccer
The rec council will hold registration for HMR fall outdoor soccer for boys and girls ages 4 through U18 at the Victory Villa Community Center on July 14 & 23. The cost of registration is $30 for clinic (four & five year olds) and $55 for U8 through U18. Everyone must bring a parent and photocopy of birth certificate. Summer Playground The rec. council will be sponsoring Summer Playground for children having completed Kindergarten through age 10 until Aug. 7. The playground will run Monday through Friday “rain or shine” from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. at Victory Villa Community Center, 404 Compass Rd. The cost for the six weeks is $20 per child. Registration will be on Opening Day, June 29. A parent or guardian must accompany the child the first day. This program is not designed to provide childcare. Football The rec, council will hold registration for football for 5 - 14 year olds on Thursday, and July 16 from 6 - 8 p.m. and on Saturdays, July 18 & 25 from 1 - 4 p.m. All registration takes place at the rec. office. All participants must bring copy of original birth certificate The registration fee is $63. The uniform fee is $52. Cheerleading The rec, council will hold registration for cheerleading for 5 - 14 year olds on Thursdays, July 9 & 16 from 6 - 8 p.m. All registration takes place at the rec. office. The registration fee is $67. In addition, each cheerleader will be required to purchase a warm-up suit, shoes, crop top, socks, bloomers and a hair bow from the program as part of his or her uniform. Gator Summer Camp The rec. council will hold summer camp at Perry Hall Elementary for Kindergarten - Grade 5 (grade completed as of June 2009) until - July 24 on Monday, Wednesdays and Fridays from 7:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. The cost is $350 and payment is due in full at registration. Total Futbol Premier Soccer Camp Soccer camp will be held for boys and girls ages 8 - 17. Camp Greentree
Camp Greentree is a
program for young people ages 6 to 21 years old,
with mild to moderate developmental disabilities. This five-week
program
includes activities such as: arts and crafts, sports, games, trips and
more.
Beginning July 6 through Aug. 7. Registration is on a first come first served basis until camp is full. Skate Park Now Open The Skate Park is now open on weekdays from 3 - 6 p.m. and weekends from noon - 6 p.m. The skate park is free to all county residents. Skaters must supply their own equipment and safety gear. A parent or guardian must accompany skaters to register them before they are allowed to participate. For more information, call SERRC. Morning Pickup Soccer The rec. council is looking for active women of all ages who are interested playing pickup soccer on Friday mornings from 10 - 11 a.m. Cost per participant is $3. The SERRC will provide a soccer ball, scrimmage vest and time clock. The SERRC suggests that all women wear athletic clothing and shin guards for safety. Summer Fun Are you an active preteen or teenager looking for a fun lively activity to participate in this summer? The rec. council will be hosting active game night on Friday during this summer. The program is for children between the ages of 2 1⁄2 and 3 1⁄2. It will introduce children to learning teamwork, exercise, meeting friends and having fun. The program will run for eight Saturdays starting on July 11 from 9 - 10 a.m. Cost is $65. Each child is required to wear shin guards and tennis shoes/soccer shoes. No Cleats Allowed. Skatepark The rec. council has extended skate park hours from noon to 8 p.m. Sunday to Saturday until September. Registration is free, but all participants need to wear safety equipment, which includes a helmet, elbow and kneepads. Parties The rec. center is open for party rentals this summer. Soccer, Football, Active Games, Baby and Wedding Showers, Engagement parties, Reunions and more are the types of parties that can be booked. Come Kick it With a Pro The rec. council is now accepting registration forms for the summer soccer program called “Come Kick it With a Pro” with Director Robbie Aristodemo. Participants will learn fundamentals of soccer and have a BLAST doing it. The SERRC is offering this program to participants 7 - 13 years of age. Each participant will receive four hours of instructional coaching as well as a participation certificate, a signed picture and a Pro Soccer Kicks T-shirt. Registration cost is $40 per participant. SERRC Science Camp will run the week of July 6 - July 10. Tow camps are being offered. Camp One is for children entering grades 1 - 3 and run from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Camp Two is for children entering grades 4 - 6 and runs from 12:30 - 2:30 p.m. Both science camps will offer “Fun Science Relate”. Structured-hands on activities with projects involving Earth Science, Life Science, Physics Fossils and Chemistry. Registration cost is only $20 for the entire week. That includes supplies. Seats are limited. A non-refundable registration fee secures your child a seat in the program. Adult Summer Soccer Leagues The SERRC will start registration in June for Adult Summer Soccer Leagues, League game days are on Mondays for Men’s Over 30;Tuesdays for Coed and Thursdays for Men’s Limited, Leagues will start the week of July 6. Cost us $500 per team, which covers all league and official’s fees. All teams must provide their own numbered shirts and players must wear shin guards.
