I would like to thank all those who supported me in my race for the
Baltimore County Council from the 5th District.
I also thank Mike Ertel for his many years of service to the Towson
area. Mike sacrificed a great deal of time to seek this office, as did
Gordon Harden and Bill Paulshock, who I also commend for their interest
in serving the people of Baltimore County.
Baltimore County is a wonderful place to live, work and raise a
family. Moving forward, however, the next county government faces
very difficult fiscal challenges. I pledge to work with County
Executive-Elect Kamenetz and the other Councilmembers to steer the
county out of the recession in a way that avoids tax increases.
As I mentioned during the campaign, we need to focus right now on those
things that can improve county government without spending a lot of
money. I’ll be working to make government more open and transparent.
I also hope to start a dialogue with community leaders on short-term
improvements for specific neighborhoods, including those in Parkville
and Perry Hall.
During the campaign, I pledged to work across party lines to develop
solutions to these challenges, and that will be my focus as your County
Councilman. Thank you again for the confidence you placed in me.
