Learn the facts about the number one killer of Americans. Causes, risk factors and testing are all discussed as representatives from Franklin Square discuss heart health.

Conducted by representatives from Franklin Square Hospital. For most accurate results, one should fast 6 to 8 hours prior to the test. Water (and necessary medication) is permitted. Any food or beverage (other than water) will affect results. Sign up at the front desk or call 410-887-0267.

Join local author Charles Godfrey as he discusses his book, The Final Charge, a fictional account of Pickets Charge at the Battle of Gettysburg. For more than 20 years, Mr. Godfrey participated in the reenactments of Gettysburg, Manassas, Cedar Creek and many others, including living history events at Fort McHenry and Harpers Ferry. He is a history buff that likes to blend fiction with history.

Lunch & Valentine’s Music

Valentine Party

Richard Blane, known by many as Elvis Presley, will be performing as Engelbert Humperdinck. Enjoy listening to love songs such as “Release Me,” “After the Lovin” and “The Last Waltz” made popular by this famous British pop singer. Hoarding: Trash or Treasurer

Hoarding is the “acquisition of and failure to discard
a large number of possessions that appear to be useless or of limited value.” Hoarding creates hazardous conditions that can increase the risk of fire, structural damage to the dwelling and disease or injury to those in the home or living nearby.  Learn about the Baltimore County Hoarding Task Force from Sharon Meyers, LCSW–C with the Department of Social Services.
TV Music Hit Parade

Food Safety Training

Do you ever wonder if you are cooking foods to the right temperatures or if you are handling leftovers properly? Each month a new food safety topic will be covered. This month we will discuss Allergens and Gloves & Tongs. Volunteers are encouraged and members are welcome to learn about these important topics. Sign up at the front desk by Feb. 3.
Council Luncheon Meeting

Did you know that all registered members make up the center council, and each year they elect an executive board? Each month a council meeting is held to inform members of what is happening at the center, obtain member input and vote on various topics that may arise. All members are invited to attend this meeting. Prior to the meeting, chef Ted cooks a great lunch for the low cost of $4. Members interested in lunch must sign up and pay at the front desk by Feb. 3. All are welcome to attend the meeting even if they do not reserve a lunch. Members who attend the meeting will be put into a quarterly drawing for a gift basket, which is on display at the front desk.

Design Our T-Shirt Contest

Dig out those colored pencils and join us for an afternoon of brainstorming and drawing. We will be coming up with T-Shirts designs to submit to Baltimore County for the Run/Walk in the fall. Make sure to come even if you can’t draw to inspire the group with your ideas. Let’s show the other centers who is the most talented center of all the senior centers in Baltimore County.
