GEICO Office Now Open in Eastern Baltimore County
Article & photo by Ben Boehl

A new GEICO office is now open at 7915 Belair Rd. in the Fullerton/Perry Hall area. This is significant because while other agencies seem to have many offices plastered all over the area, this GEICO office is only the fourth in the state and the first in Baltimore County. Tom White, LUTCF, CSA, is your GEICO Field Representative at the new location. This is the fourth and final GEICO office open in Maryland. Unlike many other agencies, GEICO can save money and provide lower rates because we don't have the overhead, White explained. Before he became involved with GEICO, White was a financial advisor. He enjoyed the job, but the hours were long and he needed to be home for his family. White's daughter has autism, and a new career appeared to be in his family's best interest. I had to do what I did for my family and I really have enjoyed it (his time at GEICO), he said. White looked around at multiple insurance agencies before settling on GEICO. Most insurance offices are stuffy and have a hectic environment, but the atmosphere at GEICO is happy, White explained. Everyone at GEICO was laughing and they were happy. After White decided on GEICO, he had to find a great location for his office. That is why the Belair Road location was selected. It is right off the Beltway before Rossville Boulevard. There is a lot of traffic on the road and White also was permitted to place signs outside of his building. Most GEICO customers are used to calling up or going online for service. At this new location, customers are provided an opportunity to come in, sit down and talk to a representative about what insurance is best suited for their needs. A lot of people are coming in so they can see the comparison of rates with other companies. They get to have a face-to-face discussion, White added. Obviously auto, life and homeowners are the most popular types of insurances, but GEICO has insurance for motorcycles, boats, renters, RVs and more. One type of insurance White recommends is umbrella insurance. This is when auto and home insurance are under one umbrella. Unfortunately, lawsuits are happening now more than ever. If you do get sued, if can become costly and you could lose assets like a house. You can get a policy that covers most lawsuits, White said. For most people that have a home and other assets, it's a good idea to get an umbrella policy. So stop into the new GEICO office on 7915 Belair Rd. The office is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. and on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. If you are lucky, maybe you'll get to see the giant GEICO Gecko standing in front of the office. White said the Gecko is very popular with motorists along Belair Road. There is a school bus that goes by the office and they are huge fans of the Gecko!
