That’s F.N. Wright

How was your Memorial Day?

May 28th, 2008

Hello, everyone. How was your long vacation? Full of fun and family, I hope.
To all the people that wrote me this week, thank you very much. Some of you will be in next week if not this week.
To the lady about rude employees, give me a few weeks and we will see what we can do, okay?
When we celebrate Memorial Day for all the precious veterans who have made our great U.S.A. what it is or suppose to be, now I wonder what all the illegal immigrants that we support celebrate? All the way to the bank!

Sincerely,
Frances Nicole Wright (F.N. Wright)

From Pattie Y. - The other day I happened to pick up and flip through the East County Times for the first time. My attention was grabbed by the headline for your column “That’s F.N.Wright” and I realized it’s what you find to be a clever play on words/initials of your name. What I found to be interesting, however, was your editorial that day on what you had heard on the radio with your eight-year-old grandson in the car. You changed the radio station over “Wake your ass up!” and other comments. Do you fail to see the vulgarity and connotation behind “F.N.Wright”?! Are you aware of the double standard you’re projecting? Maybe you won’t be able to let your grandson know about the name of your column. It just struck me as odd that you took offense to what you heard on the radio, but not to the name of your own column.

From Wayne A. - I write you about your most recent writing about the fire trucks making noise. Now to me this is another case of “We need it but not around me.” Everyone would love more fire houses, even more so when they need help, and yet no one seems to want one near them because of the noise. If the Blue Marlyn Bar can have live bands playing till the wee hours of the night, then I doubt anything will be done about a fire truck.
You seem really hung on the look and appearance of things in the Essex area, so let’s go right around Middlesex shopping center to that new liquor store that is now painted orange and purple. Essex is trying to improve itself over time - maybe they should make a rule about the color of shops? Something so silly looking only hurts the image of that area. With new sprawling communities popping up all over Essex, why is it that the downtown area is still a joke?

I’m Back, My Friends

May 13th, 2008

Hello, my friends. How have you been? I sure did miss you all last week, but you got to do what you gotta do.
There are several things to discuss this week, so let’s start with going to the store early in the morning - and for the moment I won’t mention the radio station, but - I almost wrecked my car when they said, “Wake your ass up!” and much more I can’t say but they can. Isn’t that amazing? And my eight-year-old grandson was in the car. Of course I changed the station, but no wonder all these kids act stupid and do stupid things because people make them think everything is so cool. Pay attention to what your kids listen to and watch, please.
Next thing is I have a suggestion. You know, when you go for a job, most of the time you have to take a drug test. Why don’t they make people who get welfare take a drug test? I’m tired of my tax money going for the ones who abuse the system, and the ones who really need it could get more for the right reasons. What do you think?
 Sincerely,
Frances Nicole Wright (F.N. Wright)

Nimrod

April 30th, 2008

Webmaster’s Note: This was posted by a reader to Ms. Wright last week.
Professor Pan Says:
April 15th, 2008 at 3:51 pm edit
You are a nimrod, plain and simple. I’ve visited other countries, in which I don’t speak the native language. People are kind and polite and try to help me order food, buy train tickets, or whatever I need to do . I guess that’s the difference between civil people in other countries and redneck bigots such as yourself.

Do yourself a favor and learn another language — it will expand your obviously limited intelligence and your cultural knowledge. But since you’ve probably never stepped foot out of Baltimore County, I guess I shouldn’t expect much in the way of cultural sensitivity.

Webmaster’s Note: Here is Ms. Wright’s response.
Hello all my little Essex and Dundalk rednecks. (only kidding)
My little nimrod, I’ve been waiting for you. Just for your information, I used to own my own newspaper and traveled to many states like Alaska, California, Massachusetts and New York, and even out of the country to Mexico, and many other places in between. And yes, you are correct, everyone was kind and courteous, and when you walk away they talk in their own language  and laugh because they got our good old American money. Now the problem is they’re all here laughing at us, because they’re getting our good old American money again. Do you work and pay taxes? Where do you think that money goes? It goes to the ones who don’t work and we support them, not that there aren’t some that do need it. So before you call people names like nimrod, redneck and bigot, know what you’re talking about. I’m sorry if you don’t understand what the rest of us are concerned about.
La vérité fait mal, n’est-ce pas? Would you like that in Spanish, too?
And did you know that the word Nimrod with a capital “N” is a great-grandson of Noah and in lowercase means what you intended? Did that educate you a little more? Have a nice day!
Sincerely,
Frances Nicole Wright (F.N. Wright)

Those Filthy Bus Stops

April 23rd, 2008

How ya doing, guys and dolls? Fine, I hope. Hope life treated you real good this go round.
Okay, let’s get back to a subject that I wrote about before but is still there - the bus stops. There are a few that are much worse than others, like the ones on the corners of North and South Marlyn avenues. Who would want to go into a doctor’s office or a drugstore with that filthy bus stop there? Half the time there’s nowhere to sit. Across the street at the muffler place, again there is so much trash it makes your business look bad, and most of the time there is nowhere to sit. The one up at Eastpoint is the worst. Who would go in there and eat a donut or drink a coffee without thinking that you are getting leftovers from outside?
I’ve called MTA and Baltimore County. Both have told me they would get back to me, but of course I have not heard a thing. I know what we can do - everyone call them and if we pester them enough, maybe they will fix it to shut us up. The Maryland Transit Administration can be reached at 410-539-5000 and the Baltimore County Bureau of Solid Waste Management is at 410-887-2000.
Thanks for all my letters and e-mails. Dont forget to call to get our bus stops cleaned up!

Sincerely,
Frances Nicole Wright (F.N. Wright)

Parents Deserve Blame in Teacher’s Beating

April 15th, 2008

Well, hello again, everyone. Hope all is well.
Okay, this week won’t be quite as lengthy as last week, and it makes me sick to even talk about it and I know I already did but as usual no one paid attention but now maybe they will.
It’s about the teacher getting beat up at school. God only knows how long this has been going on, but hopefully it will not anymore. Remember when I talked about the lazy, disgusting, drugs, prostitution and Heaven only can guess what else, I still firmly believe that the parents, most of them anyway, should be punished along with their trashy kids. If you are going to lay down and have them, take care of them. We probably already pay the whole nine yards for the entire group. They could get off thier lazy butts and raise them halfway decent. Baltimore City is already one of the top cities in crime, drugs, thugs, gangs and no one does a damn thing to fix it. They sure do talk a lot about it, but after what we saw on TV, it really doesn’t look like it’s working. But let me know if you feel their parents shoud be investigated and punished or fined - oops, that’s a stupid thing to say, we would pay for that, too. It is ridiculous that the teachers and the police already get paid crappy for puttting up with gutter smut, now they are getting beat up too. I know, let the mayor and her crew teach.

Responses to Your Mail

April 9th, 2008

Woo hoo! Finally I get to answer someone.
First, as far as marrying someone from another country, that is absolutely great and that is not what I am talking about. What I’m talking about is all the people that come to our country illegally and don’t become American citizens by learning our do’s and dont’s or have no desire to speak our language and get everything for free. I pay for insurance, and when I need a test of some kind I have to wait for authorization. If I was on welfare, not sick by any means but just because, I could take my social services card to the hospital and get taken care of right then and there. Do the non-Americans pay taxes like the Americans that are pathetic because they don’t feel like working? When I go to the stores anymore I feel like I’m in another country, and when the people that wait on me are talking in a foreign lanuage - probably about all of us in line - that makes me sick. Remember, our America was all imigrants when it started, but we all became one; now it’s like the less you do, the more you get.
And I am not try to demonize anyone. My sister has two ex-daughters-in-law from Guatemala and Colombia. The family of the one from Guatemala owns three farms over there. They came here to work downtown and have a nice home here, yet they are quite wealthy in their own country. The one from Colombia - again, quite wealthy there. The family came here, has a beautiful home in White Marsh, because the father started a cleaning company with his own people to whom he pays almost nothing. Why? We have a major problem and everyone not paying attention to it or fixing things is only going to make it worse; and not for us but our future generations. This is not just my opinion by any means.
As far as the politicans go, I almost totally agree with you but that was then and this is now. They are not like the past politicians and that is what scares me. I do believe they cared about us then but not now.

Sincerely,
Frances Nicole Wright (F.N. Wright)

Why Doesn’t Someone Fix the Gang Problem?

April 2nd, 2008

Hello, everyone. Hope your week was great.
My neighbor went downtown last Tuesday night. On her way down, her husband called and told her to park valet, because he was afraid for her to park in the garage because there was a gang initiation going on down there by the Harbor. What in the heck is that all about? Then I was reminded about several years ago when that happened and a young girl was kidnapped and raped. Again I’ll ask the question - why doesn’t someone fix this problem? I was also told there are gangs everywhere - Foxridge, Joppatowne and Heaven only knows where else.
And Mr. Robinson, just for the record, I didn’t write the comments on the Hershey company; one of our concerned Essex residents did. But, in my opinion, our grandchildren probably won’t have many jobs to pick from in the future because all the illegal immigrants will have them. That I have researched. All the education they get and pay for will be given to others for free, and we all know the illegals will work cheaper than Americans.

Sincerely,
Frances Nicole Wright (F.N. Wright)

Spring Has Sprung

March 25th, 2008

Hello, everyone! Hope Spring has sprung and you are all doing fine.
To the lady in Country Ridge, I have called several times to Salvo’s business office. Your best bet is to complain to the main office about the mess in and around your  yard. Find out who now owns the property because it is their responsibility to clean it up. I have also called Baltimore County to report the mess and left a few not-so-nice messages. If you do these things and don’t get a response, let me know and we will continue to pressure them until you win.
I bet if you were a government subsidy person and complained, you would have someone taking care of this mess right away. I know, pretend you are, or better yet - go from welfare to being an illegal immigrant and see what happens. I’ll keep trying to help, I promise.
Now for my next complaint … I know by now we have all heard about the governor of New York and also his predecessor. How ridiculous! Probably every person in government, or human I should say, has commited these terrible things, ha ha, but I’ll be damned if we got to use someone else’s money which means ours to fulfill our pleasures. I wonder what in the heck else they use our hard working money for? They make me sick. Does anyone know of an official that we can be proud of for anything? If you do, please let us all know.

Please, Speak English

March 20th, 2008

Hello, everyone! Hope your week was great. My sermon this week is probably repetitious and boring because it’s the same old thing everyday.
My son’s girlfriend works at a restaurant in Middle River. She had two men come in to eat who could not speak one word of English. They had to write on their hands what they wanted to eat - how stupid is that. If all these illegal immigrants want to live in America, why can’t they be made to take classes to learn to speak English? They know the words “free,” “free” and more “free.” Learn how to speak correctly so they can contribute to our country. Why can’t our Congress people fix this problem and make this mandatory? It’s just not in a restaurant; it’s everywhere. When I go to the store, I think I’m in their country, not mine.
And to the lady about your problem in country ridge, I’m working on it, OK.
And Howard, thank you for being concerned about my health, but I’m back to my ornery old self again, thanks.

Sincerely,
Frances Nicole Wright (F.N. Wright)

The Unfairness of Child Support

February 28th, 2008

Hello, everyone. Hope your week was a good one. I’m an old lady, and you all have to help me a little. Let me know some things that you are having a problem with or let others give you a little help. Somehow my brain is getting tired.
Okay, the story this week is about a man I met at the doctor’s office. He was just passing the time away with his story about his child supprt. He has three children that his wife took to Florida in 1993, and he was told the amount of child support he had to pay. He did what he was told. He had to pay around $1,000 every year to fly his kids here so he could see them for a month.
In 2004, his first son came here to live and went to Kenwood and graduated in 2007, but he still had to pay child support for him. Last year, his third child came here and stayed for six months, and he still had to pay. He went to child support for assistance, but they did absolutely nothing. When he goes there, they are rude and don’t help a bit. Two of his kids are 18 and one is 16; they have not lessened his child support to this day. He is still paying the same amount.
Now you tell me - what the heck is wrong here? Unless you can afford a lawyer, you are screwed. In the meantime, the mother was locked up for two years for forgery, and her mother kept the kids. That is when the son came here; he didn’t like the grandmother - she too had a police record. Maybe someone can tell him what he should do. I have no idea since I’ve never had this problem, so give me and him some advice please.
Thanks, Scott, for all your funny e-mails, and thanks to the other responses. Remember, my old brain is getting tired. Help me out by telling me some of your problems or disgusting situations that irritate you. Love ya all.
